Instead of a full-length recital, I have several cameos planned at the

Today (April 19th, 2025) marks the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the beginning of the American War for Independence, following Paul Revere's Ride the previous night. Fresh on the heels of the orchestral premiere of my tone poem Paul Revere earlier this month, the solo piano version - accompanied by animation, cartography, and a little live re-enactment footage - is now available on YouTube!

Horizon Ensemble in Boston to premiere "Paul Revere" by Ben Nacar

We are just a month away from the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's celebrated Midnight Ride - and the beginning of the American War for Independence - and you know what this occasion calls for: a new work for orchestra! My symphonic poem "Paul Revere" will be premiered in a couple weeks by the Boston-based Horizon Ensemble, under the baton of Julian Gau. The work draws on several different accounts of "that famous day and year" for inspiration, including Revere's own testimony and Longfellow's well-known poem.

The concert will be on Sunday, April 6th at 3pm, at the Church of the Covenant in Back Bay, Boston, MA. Also on the program...

Announcing the world premiere of the Rhode Island Independence March

This post will be updated as more information becomes available

Did you know that the State of Rhode Island declared independence from
Great Britain on May 4th, 1776, jumping the gun by exactly two months?
Well, partly in celebration of that event, but also in celebration of Rhode Island's
historical reputation as a haven for freethinkers, heretics, misfits,
and scoundrels, I have composed a "Rhode Island Independence March" - which
is about to be performed by two different bands!

The world premiere will be given by the Wakefield Concert Band, conducted
 by Steve Toro,
on Monday, April 29th at 7pm at South Kingstown High School in
 Wakefield, RI
as part of their regular spring concert. Tickets are $10.

If South Kingstown is too far away for some of you (by Rhode Island standards!)...
